What Happens During Post-Mohs Reconstruction Surgery?

Dr. Chen will determine the plan that best suits your personal situation. One of two types of procedures will be performed:

  • Flap surgery using tissue from a surrounding area to reconstruct the surgical site. The blood supply is kept intact or reattached, if necessary, to fill in the area of tissue loss.
  • Skin grafting. This involves taking skin from other areas of the body to build up/reconstruct the treated area.

Depending on the complexity of your procedure Dr. Chen will advise you of the following details:

  • Location - Providence Eye office or The Surgery Center at Edgewater
  • Anesthesia - local, IV sedation or general.
